 HUR vs REN Toss Prediction

Melbourne Renegades won the toss and fielded first, unsuccessfully, last time out. That could be a more successful tactic at Hobart, however.

 HUR vs REN Weather Report

Though temperatures will only be in the high-teens, there is zero chance of rain on the forecast and conditions should be mostly clear.

 HUR vs REN Pitch Condition

If the Blundstone Arena pitch is going to give anything to the bowlers, it will be early on. Generally, however, it is an excellent batting wicket.

Melbourne Renegades’ English pace duo Richard Gleeson and Harry Gurney were both expensive last time out but the defending champions are likely to stick with the two of them.  Key Players:

 SCO Key Players:

D’Arcy Short:
Top scorer again last season, the opener hit six half-centuries on his way to 637 runs in total – bettering his 572 runs from the previous season in the process.

Qais Ahmad:
The Afghan spinner proved how important he can be when he took 4-12 from his four overs in the opening game to bowl Hobart to victory against Sydney Sixers. He took another wicket last time out too.

James Faulkner:
Started the tournament with 2-11 against the Sixers and his return bolsters the lower-order batting as well as the death bowling unit.

 REN Key Players:

Shaun Marsh:
The Renegades’ new signing has made a big impact already. The 36-year-old started with 42 in the first game and then hit 55 last time out – continuing the batting form he had been showcasing for Western Australia too.

Aaron Finch:
Two good starts without kicking on so far, hitting 29 and 28, but the Australia white-ball captain will be vital at the top of the order if he can hit his explosive best. He hit his 56th T20 half-century (to go with seven hundreds) in his most recent T20 international.

Kane Richardson:
Economical in the first game, returning 0-18 from his four overs, before an excellent 4-22 last time out. If one of the other pacemen had been able to keep things tight with him, it would have been a very different story.

 Team Forms:

 Hobart Hurricanes:

Hobart are yet to hit full stride with the bat, posting 129/9 – largely thanks to D’Arcy Short’s half-century – in their first game before they were bowled out for 111 in their second. Qais Ahmad’s superb bowling – claiming 4-12 from his four overs – ensured that first total was a winning one against Sydney Sixers, however, as they bowed the Sixers out for 104. Last time out, against Melbourne Stars, their batting collapse meant a 52-run defeat.

 Melbourne Renegades:

Melbourne Renegades have lost both matches as they look to defend their BBL 2019 title so far. They posted 169/5 in their first game but could not defend it against Sydney Thunder despite Harry Gurney’s 2-26 and Kane Richardson taking 0-18 from four overs. Richardson starred with the ball last time out too, claiming 4-22, but Perth Scorchers smashed 196/7 and the Renegades could only reach 185/6 in reply.

 SQUAD:
Hobart Hurricanes: George Bailey, Caleb Jewell, D Arcy Short, David Miller, Ben McDermott(w/c), Clive Rose, Qais Ahmad, Nathan Ellis, Macalister Wright, James Faulkner, Riley Meredith, Simon Milenko, Thomas Rogers.

MELBOURNE RENEGADES: Aaron Finch(c), Sam Harper(w), Shaun Marsh, Tom Cooper, Daniel Christian, Beau Webster, Alex Doolan, Cameron Boyce, Richard Gleeson, Harry Gurney, Kane Richardson, Will Sutherland, Jack Wildermuth.

All the best
