Team NEWS:

 IND Team News

The Indian selectors will have to choose between Manish Pandey and all-rounder Kedar Jadhav as one of the team's middle-order batsmen. It will also be interesting to see whether captain Kohli decides to play both the wrist-spinners - Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal - or pick seam-bowling all-rounder Shivam Dube in place of one of them.

 WI Team News
West Indies are sweating over the fitness of their opening batsman Evin Lewis who hurt his knee while fielding in the third T20 international. In case he fails to recover in time for this game, Brandon King will probably be made to open the batting alongside Sunil Ambris. Kieron Pollard will be leading the Windies in this ODI series.

C/VC Options -

-Virat Kohli and K Pollard/Roston Chase can be seen as default C VC today in SL.
-Kieron Pollard and Lokesh Rahul are the other two safe choices of C VC in SL.
-Mohammad Shami and Nicholas Pooran are the two best punt C VC choices available today.
-Rohit Sharma is a risky choice of C VC in SL today as he doesn't have good record at this venue.

 Key Players:

 IND Key Players:

 Virat Kohli:
Virat Kohli has scored 279 runs in six innings at Chepauk at an average close to 47. It goes without saying that the Indian captain should be your top pick for this match.

Rohit Sharma should also be picked whenever India plays but his record is not that good at the venue. Mohammed Shami has turned into a wicket-taker for India in this format and he can be picked. Chahal’s bowling will be useful on the turning pitch at the Chepauk.

For the West Indies, Roston Chase and Shai Hope should walk into any team. Pooran and Pollard are the other two options to be picked in the batting department. Sheldon Cottrell is another attractive option to have in the team.

 WI Key Players:

Evin Lewis looked in good form in the T20Is but his availability for this first ODI is not confirmed as of yet. However, the Windies still have enough batting firepower in Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer and skipper Kieron Pollard. Hetmyer scored the most runs for the team in the T20I series and the left-handed batsman will be expected to carry that form into the ODIs. West Indies will rely heavily on Sheldon Cottrell, Jason Holder and Alzarri Joseph to get rid of India's top-order early on in the innings

 Team Forms:

India have shown impressive form in the game's fifty-over format in recent times and have won nine of their last eleven completed matches. They have played just one ODI series since their semi-final loss at the ICC Cricket World Cup in England; a three-match series in the West Indies where they won 2-0.

 West Indies:

West Indies have not been faring too well in ODIs - they have lost eight of their last twelve completed matches in the format. However, they outplayed Afghanistan in their most recent ODI assignment which came last month. It was a three-match series played at Lucknow, India which the Windies swept 3-0.

INDIA: Virat Kohli (Captain), Rohit Sharma (Vice-Captain), Mayank Agarwal, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant (WK), Shivam Dube, Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Deepak Chahar, Mohammed Shami.

WEST INDIES: Sunil Ambris, Shai Hope, Khary Pierre, Rostan Chase, Alzarri Joseph, Kieron Pollard (C), Sheldon Cottrell, Brandon King, Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Evin Lewis, Romario Shepherd, Jason Holder, Keemo Paul, Hayden Walsh Jr.

All the best
