 SCO vs REN Toss Prediction

This match will take place at the Optus Stadium, Perth. It has historically leant itself to the side fielding first. It’s likely that the toss-winning side will elect to field first. The Optus Stadium pitch is known for having a lot of pace and bounce. The last T20i match played here underlined this, with Australia beating Pakistan, having fielded first.

 SCO vs REN Weather Report

The day will be sunny and warm with a gentle breeze expected in the afternoon. Temperatures will reach around 32 degrees Celsius and there is little to no chance of rain expected.

 SCO vs REN Pitch Condition

This match will take place at the Optus Stadium, Perth. This pitch often favours bowlers if the conditions are right. The last T20i match played here saw the winning team only notch up 109 runs. This is because the pitch at the Optus Stadium is a drop-in surface. It’s expected to be similar conditions to the WACA surface; with lots of pace and bounce.

 SCO Team News

Since the last Big Bash, Perth Scorchers have lost William Bosisto, Hilton Cartwright, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Clint Hinchliffe, Michael Klinger, Shaun Marsh, Usman Qadir, Sean Terry and David Willey. They’ve replaced them with Fawad Ahmed, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone and Kurtis Patterson. They lost their first match to the Sydney Sixers and will be expecting better performances from their batsmen in particular.

 REN Team News
Despite losing their opening match to the Sydney Thunder, hopes will be high for the Melbourne Renegades. The defending champions see a few changes from their Big Bash League winning side of 2018/19. Tim Ludeman, Chris Tremain, Cameron White and Usman Shinwari all depart, while they welcome Shaun Marsh, Richard Gleeson and Jake Fraser-McGurk to their ranks. Incoming Marsh will add to an already potent top order including Aaron Finch and Macus Harris. They will be hoping for much better performances in this match.

 Key Players:

 SCO Key Players:

The Perth Scorchers finished last in the league standings in the last BBL. It was a tournament in which their bowling attack was their saving grace. They’ve since gone on to lose three of their best bowlers to either injuries or moves away from the club. They have, however, done their best to replace Andrew Tye, Coulter-Nile and Matthew Kelly by bringing in leg spinner Fawad Ahmed and Chris Jordan who both have very good T20 records. They are also hoping that speed bowler Jhye Richardson, already at the club, will be able to feature much more this tournament, as he missed a number of games last time around due to international duties.
In terms of their batsmen, Perth Scorchers have tried to improve upon what was a poor performing line-up from the last BBL. Liam Livingstone has been brought in, boasting a T20 strike rate of 140, as well as Kurtis Patterson, who has impressed earlier in the year in first-class cricket. They will be the ones to watch from Perth’s batsmen.

 REN Key Players:

The Renegades have a wealth of talented openers to choose from, including; Captain Aaron Finch, Marcus Harris, Sam Harper (who has played very well in warm-ups) and recent acquisition from the Perth Scorchers, Shaun Marsh. The latter boasts a BBL average of 49.8 and will add to an already dangerous batting line-up.
Mohammad Nabi, Tom Cooper, Beau Webster, Dan Christian and Will Sutherland are all very capable all-rounders, a strength which was instrumental in helping them claim their first ever BBL title in 2018/19.

 Team Forms:

 Perth Scorchers:

The Perth Scorchers would have come into BBL 2019/20 hoping for much better performances this time around. They finished last in the league standings last time and have brought some new players in to compensate. However, they got off to a disappointing start as they were thoroughly beaten by the Sydney Sixers in their first game. The Perth Scorchers batted first and set the rather modest total of 131 runs for the Sixers to chase. Low scores were a trend the Scorchers would have been hoping to buck so they’ll be expecting a better performance from their batsmen in this match. Their bowlers struggled to deal with Sydney Sixers batsman, Josh Philippe, who hit 81 not out.

 Melbourne Renegades:

The Melbourne Renegades struggled in their first match, losing to Sydney Thunder by 6 wickets with 2 balls remaining. It remains to be seen whether or not that match was a temporary blip. The Renegades will be hoping they can live up to the standards they set for themselves last time out. They’ve added some talented players to their line-up and if they can recapture some of their form from the BBL, they will be a tough prospect.

PERTH SCORCHERS: Mitchell Marsh (c), Ashton Agar, Fawad Ahmed, Cameron Bancroft, Jason Behrendorff, Cameron Green, Aaron Hardie, Nick Hobson, Josh Inglis, Chris Jordan (England), Matthew Kelly, Liam Livingstone (England), Joel Paris, Kurtis Patterson, Jhye Richardson, Ashton Turner, Andrew Tye, Sam Whiteman.

MELBOURNE RENEGADES: Aaron Finch(c), Sam Harper(w), Shaun Marsh, Tom Cooper, Daniel Christian, Beau Webster, Alex Doolan, Cameron Boyce, Richard Gleeson, Harry Gurney, Kane Richardson, Will Sutherland, Jack Wildermuth.

All the best
