 THU vs REN Toss Prediction

It is four matches since Melbourne Renegades won the bat flip so they are due a change in fortune. The Thunder elected to field first when they were last in Canberra.

 THU vs REN Weather Report

Smog was an issue last time the Big Bash rolled into Canberra, while there will be cloud cover for this game and a very small chance of rain too. Otherwise, the smoke – caused by the bushfires – has eased a little in the past day.

 THU vs REN Pitch Condition

Canberra’s Manuka Oval is a balanced wicket, though its true nature could not be explored last time out as heavy smog caused the early abandonment of the Thunder’s last match here.

Team NEWS:

 THU Team News

Brendan Doggett and Liam Bowe each took a wicket after coming into the team last time out, replacing Nathan McAndrew and Jonathan Cook. The Thunder have no players on international duty, with Usman Khawaja one of the more notable players overlooked for the Australia ODI squad.

 REN Team News
Mohammad Nabi arrived in time to make his first appearance of the season last time out, with he and Samit Patel having now replaced Harry Gurney and Richard Gleeson as overseas players – Nabi as planned and Patel because of Gurney’s injury. The Renegades are also without Aaron Finch and Kane Richardson, who are with the Australia squad in India. Joe Mennie and Tom Cooper have come into the team recently to compensate.

 Predicted Lineups (Playing11):

 Sydney Thunder

Usman Khawaja, Alex Hales, Callum Ferguson (c), Alex Ross, Matthew Gilkes (wk), Chris Morris, Daniel Sams, Arjun Nair, Chris Tremain, Brendan Doggett, Luke Bowe.

 Melbourne Renegades

Sam Harper (wk), Marcus Harris, Shaun Marsh, Tom Cooper, Beau Webster, Mohammad Nabi, Dan Christian (c), Jack Wildermuth, Samit Patel, Cameron Boyce, Joe Mennie.

Daniel Sams:
Continued his excellent bowling form with 2-29 in the win against Hobart Hurricanes. He now has 17 wickets in nine appearances this season.

Chris Morris:
The South African all-rounder also took two wickets last time out and now has ten for the tournament from seven appearances.

 REN Key Players:

Shaun Marsh:
Another 21 runs last time out took the veteran batsman to 319 runs for the season so far, including two half-centuries.

Mohammad Nabi:
Arrives on the back of some good wicket-taking form in the Bangladesh Premier League with Rangpur Rangers and started his latest Renegades stint with a wicket last time out too.

Beau Webster:
Dismissed just short of another half-century last time out, the batsman has scored 29, 59*, 25 and 49 in his last four games to show some decent form in an otherwise out-of-form team.

 Team Forms:

 Sydney Thunder:

Sydney Thunder ended a three-match losing streak when they beat Hobart Hurricanes last time out. Defeats to Melbourne Stars, sandwiched by a rain-affected loss to Brisbane Heat, had seen the Thunder slide down the table but Alex Hales’ half-century ensured they got a much-needed two points against Hobart. Daniel Sams and Chris Morris each took two wickets as the Hurricanes posted 162/6 and Hales top-scored in reply. He and Usman Khawaja shared 96 in 10.2 overs for the first wicket and the Thunder won by four wickets in the final over.

 Melbourne Renegades:

Melbourne Renegades’ losing streak now stands at nine matches after their seven-wicket defeat to Melbourne Stars – as they failed to defend 168/7 – was followed by a dismal batting display in defeat to Adelaide Strikers. Beau Webster scored 49 but he fought a lone battle as the Renegades – chasing 174 to win – folded for just 110.

 SQUAD:
SYDNEY THUNDER: Usman Khawaja, Alex Hales, Callum Ferguson(c), Alex Ross, Jay Lenton(w), Chris Morris, Daniel Sams, Arjun Nair, Jonathan Cook, Liam Bowe, Brendan Doggett, Nathan McAndrew, Gurinder Sandhu.

All the best
