 Info:

  • Winless Lahore Qalandars continue their search for a first win of the 2020 Pakistan Super League when they take on Peshawar Zalmi.
  • The Qalandars have lost both games so far and six in a row in total in the Pakistan Super League - most recently failing to defend 182/6 against Islamabad United despite Mohammad Hafeez's 98* and Shaheen Afridi's 4-18.
  • Peshawar Zalmi bounced back from defeat to Karachi Kings when Kamran Akmal's century led them to a six-wicket win against Quetta Gladiators, but they were bowled out for 123 as they lost to Multan Sultans last time out.

 LAH vs PES Toss Prediction

Lahore Qalandars are yet to win the toss this season, and have been asked to bat first both times – they may choose to field first this time.

 LAH vs PES Weather Report

Rawalpindi is set for rain all day on Friday and scattered thunderstorms. The evening will be humid and the chance of showers sits at 50 percent.

 LAH vs PES Pitch Condition

Rawalpindi is generally a quick wicket, with good pace and carry.

Team NEWS:

 LAH Team News

Lahore Qalandars were quick to make changes after their opening defeat, as Ben Dunk was replaced by Samit Patel and Faizan Khan came into the team for Dilbar Hussain. After a much-improved performance, albeit ending in a thrilling defeat, that could be nearer their strongest XI.

 PES Team News
Peshawar Zalmi was unchanged last time out, missing key players Kieron Pollard (due to international duty) and Imam-ul-Haq. Their batting fell short, but they may keep the faith after the win against Quetta that preceded it.

 Key Players:

 LAH Key Players:

 Mohammad Hafeez:
Issued a timely reminder of his qualities when he smashed 98* from 57 balls last time out – including seven fours and seven sixes – and then took 1-11 from his two overs.

 Chris Lynn:
Hit 39 from 19 balls in the opening game to show the danger he poses with the bat at the top of the order, and more of the same will set the Qalandars up for an improved batting performance.

 Shaheen Afridi:
Took 4-18 last time out to nearly leading them to victory against Lahore Qalandars. He now has five wickets and a total of 27 dot balls so far in this year’s tournament, going at just 4.50 runs per over in the first two matches.

 PES Key Players:

 Kamran Akmal:
Hit a match-winning 55-ball 101 in the win against Quetta Gladiators and he has scored 58 runs in 35 balls across his other two innings so far too.

 Liam Livingstone:
He started the PSL 2020 tournament with an unbeaten half-century and will want to get back to the form he showed for Karachi Kings in last year’s tournament.

 Wahab Riaz:
Four wickets in his last two games have seen him creep ever closer to 300 in T20 cricket – he now has 289 in 242 innings.

 Team Forms:

 LAHORE QALANDARS:

Lahore Qalandars have lost both matches so far, to make it six consecutive Pakistan Super League defeats in total now. They opened this season with a below-par 138/8 against Multan Sultans and fell to a five-wicket defeat, while Mohammad Hafeez’s unbeaten 98 from 57 balls in a total of 182/6 was not quite enough as they suffered a one-wicket defeat with a ball to spare against Islamabad United in a thriller last time out. That was despite Shaheen Afridi’s 4-18 with the ball.

 PESHAWAR ZALMI:

Peshawar Zalmi have been inconsistent to say the least so far, beating Quetta Gladiators as Kamran Akmal’s century led them to a six-wicket win in between defeats to Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans.

They were too expensive with the ball in the former – Liam Livingstone’s late half-century only enough to lift them to 191/7 in pursuit of 202 to win. Last time out, meanwhile, the batting fell short – bowled out for 123, they crashed to a six-wicket defeat despite some early wickets in reply.
